It’s all in the name!

It started with what many thought was a crazy idea – the idea to build a CNC machine from scratch. It morphed into a plan and a lot of little parts – some frustration along they way leading to eventual success as we made the first cut with our CNC machine – it was then in 2012 that Custom Cuts was born, owned and operated by cousins Jamie Hynes and Ian Brushett. The real business began with cutting custom signs, cutouts and small boxes. As time passed we moved on to children’s growth sticks and one of a kind custom crib boards. As soon as people discovered what we were doing each request that came in was unique and custom. There seemed to be no better name than CustomCuts.

We work out of a small shop in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and we take a great deal of pride in our work and spend a great deal of time on our projects from hand selecting the wood for each project to carefully designing the final product. Because we take pride in our work orders can easily take up to a month from start to finish since we want to avoid rushing any of the critical steps within the process. This just means we like to get orders in advance of special dates so we have time to give each piece the individual attention
it deserves.
